HONOURS BURSARIES FOR 2021 & 2022

An Honours degree (NQF-8) is a degree you do once you have completed your undergraduate degree. Honours programmes are considered a higher level of education as it combines research projects, thesis, and coursework. During this year, students focus primarily on a specific area of interest and upon completion of the programme, move on to a Masters or Doctorate degree. Some Honours degrees are offered separately from Bachelor degrees. In this instance, the programmes may have different requirements for their entry, however, they both usually do need a high GPA (Grade Point Average) for a student to be considered for admission.

MASTERS BURSARIES FOR 2021 & 2022

A Masters Degree (NQF-9) is one of the most challenging but beneficial qualifications to obtain. The main aim and focus of a Master’s program are to ensure that students are trained, educated, and prepared for specialized employment and that they have the necessary skills to successfully execute their trade. A Master’s Degree requires a lot of research projects during the program, as students need to prepare and deliver essays (dissertation) and complete research projects. These assignment marks will also determine if the student will be able to complete their degree. Admission into a Master’s program requires a relevant Honours Degree along with a professional Bachelors Degree and Postgraduate Diploma.

PHD/ DOCTORAL BURSARIES FOR 2021 & 2022

A Ph.D./ Doctoral degree (NQF-10) is the highest qualification anyone can obtain (also known as terminal degrees). Doctoral degrees demonstrate mastery in a subject area and can be either an applied or research-based degree. Upon completion of a Doctoral degree, the student will then become a professional in their field of study; Doctoral degrees are applicable to almost ANY subject area. The program takes 4 years to complete after a Bachelor’s Degree, however, if the student already holds a Master’s degree, they will be able to complete the Doctoral qualification in the same subject area, on a full-time study basis over a 3-year course.

POSTGRADUATE BURSARIES FOR 2021 & 2022

Postgraduate studies refer to learning and studying towards academic/ professional qualifications. Qualifications one can obtain during postgraduate students are degrees, academic/ professional certificates, diplomas, and other qualifications.
A student partakes in a Postgraduate program upon successful completion of an undergraduate degree or (in some circumstances) relevant industry experience. Postgraduate studies are made up of coursework and research, with the coursework component consisting of levels such as Graduate Diploma, Graduate Certificate, and Master. Various Degrees and filed of study are offered at a Master’s level, and others at a Graduate Certificate/ Diploma- this is dependant on both the industry employment standards, accreditation requirements, and/or entry requirements.
