Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Eligibility
You are eligible for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, if:
- You’re self-employed or an independent contractor,
- You don’t qualify for regular unemployment under state law,
- You can self-certify that you have been affected by the COVID-19 public health emergency in one of the following ways:
- You are unable to work or partially unable to work, due to no fault of your own,
- You were diagnosed with COVID-19 or you have symptoms and are seeking a diagnosis,
- You are providing care for a family member diagnosed with COVID-19,
- You are the primary caregiver for a child who is unable to attend a school or another facility that has been closed due to COVID-19,
- You are unable to reach work because of an imposed quarantine or because a health care provider advised you to self-quarantine due to COVID-19,
- You were scheduled to start new employment, but now you don’t have a job or cannot work because of COVID-19,
- You became major support for your household because the head of your household died from COVID-19,
- You have to quit your job as a direct result of COVID-19,
- Your place of employment closed as a direct result of COVID-19,
- You’re not able to work remotely with pay for the same number of hours as a normal workweek, AND
- You’re not receiving any paid sick leave or other paid leave benefits.
