The top flight of Spanish football is divided into a set of groups of teams called “leagues”, with teams playing off against each other to determine which team is crowned as the “Champion”.
In order to compete, clubs must achieve a certain amount of “points”, with a number of them being allocated at the end of each season to determine which sides are “top” and “bottom”.
In the Spanish Premier League, a team is crowned as the “Champion” when they have won the league title the previous season.
Although the final standings are often determined well in advance, the table below provides an indication of where the sides stand heading into the new season.

For the first time, clubs will be able to sign players with a higher salary than what they are allowed to pay under FIFA regulations.

This table shows the top scores, wins, and points of each club in the Italian Serie A and the Premier League, as well as the fixtures and results of each match between the two leagues.
